Words Of Wisdom From:
Muhammad Ali - "The Greatest" Sportsman Who Ever Lived

Picture

I have asked a number of people who they think of as the most confident person they’ve ever came across. Who is it they think of when they think of confidence? The most popular answer is a seventy year old man, who is many things to many people. A poet. A philanthropist. An entertainer. A political speaker. An oppressed victim of social injustice. An icon. A comedian. A legend. A showman. A master psychologist. The most recognized sports figure of all time. An Olympian. A champion. “The Greatest.” The undisputed king of confidence. Boxing’s greatest ever Heavyweight Champion of the world – Muhammad Ali. I have studied him from various angles. I have marveled at the way he has built up his own confidence and shaped the opinions of the people around him to support his cause. Whether they were admirers, the media or opponents, he shaped the way they viewed him. Today, people do not dispute that he is “the greatest.”

As a man who has achieved great things with his life, not least the fact that he is referred to by people the world over as "The Greatest", here are my top ten words of wisdom that he has left to help us achieve greater success in our lives:

“I am the greatest. I said that before I ever believed I was. I figured that if I said it enough, I would believe it and other people might believe it. The other things I said were designed to affect my opponents. Some opponents were intimidated and defeated before they stepped in the ring. Others were so mad, they tried too hard to beat me and tired themselves out.”

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

"To be a great champion you must believe you are the best. If you’re not, pretend you are.”

“It's the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen.”

"Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them - a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have the skill, and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.”

"He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life."

"It is lack of faith that makes people afraid of meeting challenges, and I believed in myself."

"Only a man who knows what it is like to be defeated can reach down to the depths of his soul and come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when the match is even."

"Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth."

"To be able to give away riches is mandatory if you want to possess them. This is the only way that you will be truly rich. We have one life. It soon will be past. What we do for God is all that will last."
